There was no jet boat ride because of the weather but hopefully the helicopter ride and luncheon at the Black Estate at Waipara made up for it.
Joseph Watts won the Lincoln University sponsored Food Technology Prize during the recent Young Farmers Final ( also sponsored by Lincoln ) and came south with wife Lucy to claim his prize on the weekend.
Joseph, who was runner up in the final, won the “Canterbury Adventure Tour package”, which included the helicopter stopping at the Black Estate, where owner Rod Naish (pictured with the couple) and wine maker Nicholas Brown are Lincoln alumni.
The couple also had a scenic tour of Banks Peninsula, Christchurch and North Canterbury area with University Project Manager Rob Reynish acting as their guide.
We are proudly continuing to support Young Farmers and have a history of our alumni succeeding in the contest as well as a strong connection with the land and agricultural-based education.
We are looking forward to next year when Christchurch is hosting the Grand Final, with the technical day at the BLINC Innovation Workshop on the Lincoln University campus
